Mumbai, Oct 14: An unknown biker in Thane attacked a hotel chain owner from Khar by shooting at his car during the wee hours on Sunday. The owner of Carter's Blue chain of hotels Mehboob Khan was driving his high-end sedan with his family when the biker fired at him near the busy Kharegaon toll plaza, said the police.

Khan escaped with minor injuries on his right arm. The police said the reason behind the attack could be ‘personal rivalry’, however, Khan said he had no idea why anyone would want to target him.

After getting injured, Khan drove the vehicle till Mumbra police station located close to the crime spot and the officials escorted him to a hospital in Kalwa where he was treated and discharged on Sunday morning. Khan was returning home to Khar after visiting his in-laws in Mumbra when he was attacked, said the police.

Speaking to Times of India and as quoted by them, reporter Khan said that he was clueless about the offender. "It is not like I have received any threat from anyone. I am not sure who the shooter was or what his motive was in trying to harm me."
