Puttur, Oct 9: Noting that the stretch of national highway 75 between Addahole in Shiradi village and B C Road is in despicable condition and demanding immediate asphalting of this stretch, the highway blockade and protest will be staged on Thursday morning at Nelyady, said president of Nelyady National Highway Action Committee Fr Varghese.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday October 8, he noted that the common people are suffering because of the wretched condition of this road. He regretted the fact that no one is responding to the problems of the people or undertaking any initiative to address the problem. "As this issue is neglected, we are holding the protest. Since the last three years, this road was dug and unscientific works were undertaken at a few stretches. Now, since the last six months, the work has been left halfway through by the contractors, leaving the people using the road high and dry," he complained.

"We will not go back till we get satisfactory response and assurance," he asserted.
