Kuwait, Oct 5: Bharatiya Pravasi Parishad (Karnataka Wing) organized ‘Karunada Dindima’ to mark the Karnataka Rajyostava and Diwali on Friday, October 4 at the American International School, Kamel Al Rayes Auditorium, Maidan Hawally, Kuwait.
The melodious event featured performances by prominent well-known singer Aryabhata awardee Jagadeesh Acharya Puttur, fast spot painter Devikiran, ‘Hasyollasa’ by Prof Krishne Gauda, renowned compere by RJ Prasanna, dances by local artists.
The programme began with formal welcome by compere Ashwitha Surendra Poojary followed by national anthem of Kuwait and India. The traditional lamp was lit by president advocate Sumod, chairperson Sathishchandra Shetty, Fr Dominic Sequeira, Second Secretary (Consular) Ranveer Bharti, Mulky Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty, Prof Krishne Gauda, former IPS officer Annamalai Kuppusami, presidents of TKK, KCWA, KKMA, Bhantara Sangha, Billava Sangha and Raj Bhandari.
Fr Dominic Sequeira blessed the occasion with a short and powerful message. He said that our stay should not only be for benefit of our family but to spread the good culture and decency. Ranveer Bharti and Karnataka wing chairperson Sathishchandra Shetty spoke few words. Raj Bhandary welcomed the guests and audience.
Madhav Naik’s Book ‘Jeevana Kavana’ was released during the occasion. Sathish Acharya and Dr Azad were honoured with title ‘Karma Yogi’ for their contribution towards Kannada language. T G Venugopal, MLA Umanath Kotian, MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty, Prof Krishne Gauda, IPS Annamalai, were honoured with flowers, fruits, shawl, traditional cap and mementoes.
Sponsors and artists were honoured with mementoes. MLA Umanath Kotian, MLA Dr Bharath Shetty and IPS Annamalai gave powerful speeches appreciating NRIs for their contribution for the development of India.
Jagadeesh Puttur entertained with variety of devotional, Bhavageethe, folk and patriotic songs. Spot painter Devikiran mesmerized the audience by his quick paintings of Gandhiji, Kannada poet Kuvempu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with music, songs and dance.
‘Hasyollasa’ by Prof Krishne Gauda was added attraction with humorous, sensational and sentimental talks. Variety of dances was showcased by Nrithya Niketana Kuwait and United Group. A drama on Tulu history Bali Daana- Tulunada Baliyendra was played under the direction of Sathish Acharya. Spot prizes, raffle draw and Adrusta Kannadiga draw were conducted to keep audience live.
Vijay Fernandes delivered vote of thanks. The programme was well compered by visiting artiste RJ Prasanna and Ashwitha Surendra Poojari. Music was provided by Shaji (Key board), Manoj Thalacheri (Guitar), Anil Pais (Guitar) Sajan (Tabla) and Vaman Bailoor (Drums) The program was coordinated by Raj Bhandari, sound/Lighting by Waves Event Management/Anand.
In the whole programme former IPS officer Annamalai become the centre of attraction. He was given a very warm welcome by audience with a loud applause. People were overwhelmed to see him, and organizers faced difficulties to control them. He got a standing ovation during honoring and his every word and move was responded by a thunderous applause and huge overwhelming screams.
