Popular Konkani singer Jerry Bajjodi passed away due to cardiac arrest on September 3 at the age of 51. He collapsed while he was singing a popular Kannada song during a Ganeshotsava event that was held at Bejai in the city. He breathed his last on the way to hospital.
His family was shattered due to his sudden demise. His wife Laveena and children Jeslita, Joyston and Lozita felt orphaned, as Jerry was the sole breadwinner of the family. Jerry earned an income doing musical shows and used to take up small painting contract works within the city.

On September 14, an appeal was published on Daijiworld.com, requesting generous readers to provide financial help for the family of late Jerry Bajjodi especially education of his children.
The appeal received an overwhelming response from generous readers. The heart-touching story of the family was shared on social media also. Hundreds of the readers showed their generosity towards the family and deposited money into the account of Laveena, Jerry’s wife. In less than a month, over Rs 12.4 lac was received in Laveena’s account.
The financial help has turned out to be a ray of hope for Jerry’s family.
“After the sudden demise of my husband, I totally lost hope in life. It was a tough situation for us. But the readers of Daijiworld stood by me and supported me and my children financially. The amount deposited into my account will help education and other related expenses of my children. I thank all readers of Daijiworld, organisations and individuals who came as Good Samaritans in our life. We will remember them all in our prayers,” Laveena expressed her gratitude.
