Udupi: Catholic Sabha hold public cleanliness campaign on account of Gandhi Jayanti

Udupi, Oct 2: Healthy and clean community environment campaign was held in all the 54 churches of the Catholic Sabha Udupi diocese on Wednesday, October 2 on account of Gandhi Jayanti.

This campaign was organized under the 'Laudato Si', the white paper with regard to environment protection given by Pope Francis and 'Swacchata Hi Seva' campaign call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The campaign was flagged off by the president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh in front of the Goretti hospital in Kallianpur. He said, "In order to maintain health good environment is necessary. It is the prime duty of each and every citizen of the country to keep the environment clean. We should dispose the waster that is generated in our house in the bins that are meant for the same, instead of throwing it everywhere."



Spiritual director of Catholic Sabha Udupi pradesh, Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, secretary Santhosh Cornelio, convener of the programme Flavian D'Souza, former president Valerian Fernandes, Walter Cyril Pinto and others were present.

Along with the Catholic Sabha various organizations like Ladies organizations, Youth organizations, Lions Club, Rotary Club, self-help clubs, local youth clubs and other associations took part in the campaign.

As a part of the campaign railway station, public roads and vicinity of public hospitals were cleaned by the volunteers.
