Sullia: Father and 3 sons die on spot in collision between car and truck

Sullia, Oct 1: In a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday, October 1 on Mani-Mysuru national highway near here, four people lost their lives in a head on collision between a car and truck.

The collision occurred between an Eicher truck and Maruti Swift car.

All the four deceased were the occupants of the car. 

The deceased persons are Husseinar Haji and his sons Ibrahim, Abdul Rahiman and Harris from Napoklu Kottamudi in Kodagu district.

Ummer Farooq who was travelling in the same car sustained injuries. He has been shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to a hospital in Sullia for post-mortem. 

Sullia police have taken up investigations.

    Even I noticed in Mangalore ,
    young generation who drives never care anyone or any rules they follow.
    Once they obtain license (very easy to get license in India) they driver like anything and enter ,approach road,overtake from anywhere and exit road also from nowhere,
    Never follow give-way rule.
    99% people never know what is Give-Way rule? who is liable to give way for whom?
    Even RTO never bothered to educate this rule to people.
    Who has the first right to enter a Roundabout (in India Circle)
    Who has the priority: Main road person who approach from service road to main road? Without knowing rule people shout at each other many times , specially city bus drivers,Express bus drivers and rickshaw 2 wheelers they don't follow rules: if they get as little as little space they will enter the junction and shout at person whose right is first to move.

    How can one use such a tragic incident to quench ones political thirst & hate? Even if the driver of car is on the right hand side of road rather than left as seen in picture above, wud wish process of suing car manufacturers with model with 2/5 stars in Global NCAP crash test with 7.08/17 for adult occupant protection & body structure rated unstable, hatchback likely to perform worse in crashes above 64kmph.

    Dude.. Nitin Gadkari was not driving the vehicle.. One should be responsible and careful on road.. Its very sad that precious lives are lost for no reason..

    See the car on wrong side of the road and it is a head on collision. If one Ibrahim at Sullia has driven car rashly to hit a truck head on, how Gadkari at Delhi will be responsible for that.....!!

    Ahmed, He said accidents will be reduced ...not full stopped. But looking position of the car ..it is suicide rather say accident.... RIP for deceased.

    private cars drive like like maniacs on that road - particularly those with lIcense pates of KA-19, KA-09, but surprised that a KA-12 vehicle met a bad end. Perhaps they too want not to be left behind. When I drive a large sedan on that road, every small car wishes to overtake me to show its machismo. All of them seem to think they are heroes of Kannada movies. mush as it sounds inhuman, it seems like a waste of time feeling sympathy for them.

    Though your reply is bit harsh, I do agree with you. I live in the city of mangaluru and here also the sense of driving is extremely bad. Probably in line with some African third world countries.
    Wrong side entry, blaring of horns, stopping or turning without use of indicators are just some of them.
    I know the difference because I have lived in Dubai for 25 years and now back in India since three years.

    I am really scared to drive here, though I drive two as well as four wheeler very carefully and never beyond 60 km per hour.

    Nothing can beat KL-14 and KL-60 vehicles. KA-19 comes a distant second :) Please visit thokkotu deralakatte area for you to believe.

    If seat belt is not fastened, air bags will not inflate during a collision.
    So as a rule always fasten your seatbelts no matter where you are sitting in the car.

    Air Bags do not deploy if the driver is not wearing the seat belt. airbag is a Secondary Restraint System It will deploy when the primary system i.e. the seatbelt is being used.. Please google for more information
