Bantwal, Oct 1: The body of Kaushik Mandanna (30), who jumped into the Netravati river from the Panemanagaluru bridge, along with his mother and sister on the late night of Saturday, was found at Talipadpu of Sajipa Munnuru village of the taluk on Tuesday, Oct 1.

The locals who noticed a dead body floating near the bank of the river near Talipadpu alerted the police immediately. Fire service personnel, NDRF team and the local swimmers brought the body up and sent the same to Mangaluru for further procedures to be followed.

It may be recalled that Kavita Mandanna (56), a native of Kadanga in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district, presently residing at P S Nagar of Mysuru had jumped into the Netravati river from the Panemangaluru bridge near B C Road at around 11.30 pm on the night of Saturday, along with her Son Kaushik Mandanna (30) and daughter Kalpita Mandanna (20) and their pet dog.

The body of Kavita Mandanna was found on the same night and the body of daughter Kalpita Mandanna was recovered on the afternoon of Sunday near Innoli of Konaje. However, the search operation as stopped at late night of Sunday to trace the body of Kaushik Mandanna.

Two separate cases in this connection are registered in Bantwal and Konaje police stations.

Bantwal, Oct 1: The mortal remains of Kaushik Mandanna (30), who had jumped into River Netravati from the Panemangalore bridge along with mother, Kavita Mandanna (55) and sister, Kalpita Mandanna (20) on September 28, could not be found on Monday in spite of best efforts made by the fire brigade and national disaster response force personnel.

In the meanwhile, the funeral of the mother-daughter duo was performed by relatives who had come from Mysuru and claimed the bodies at Chembugudde in the city outskirts.

It may be recalled that Kavita was brought out of the river within sometime after she jumped in, but she did not survive for long. The body of Kalipta Mandanna was found from near Innoli on Sunday. The family pet dog, which was the lone survivor and was found clinging to Kavita when her body had been brought out, has been handed over to the relatives.

The search teams surveyed the river for Kaushik's body near the Thumbe dam and around Ullal bridge area but they did not succeed in their efforts. Cases relating to these deaths have been registered in Bantwal town station and Konaje station.

Some sources had said that a letter had been left behind by the family before leaving their home in P S Nagar Mysuru. So far, the details of this letter have not been made public. Sources also said that the husband of Kavita Mandanna had suddenly gone missing several days back and frantic efforts were made to locate him. On Friday, his lifeless body was found lying in the city outskirts. The body was taken to hospital for post-mortem in the evening, after which the family members left home in their Maruti EECO car with the aim to commit suicide together, it is said.

    It's good to install the CCTV surrounding and deploy security personnel, as Netravati Bridge turned into suicide spot.

    The department shouldn't be much serious about the people who commit suicide.... anyways they end their life and it's waste of public time and energy

    Sir, the department should definitely be serious. The cause of suicide is definitely a reason we live around. In rectification of the cause it will help to reduce the suicide.

    *Now they were saying 'we will install CCTV camera and glass barrier at both sides! :( so that no can jump across!!!!!
