Bengaluru: Factionalism in BJP - Yediyurappa faces reverses in organisational appointments

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 28: State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, has appointed former MLC Bhanupratap, and former MLA Nirmal Kumar Surana, as state vice presidents of the BJP. These two had been vice presidents of the BJP in the past, but were relieved from their posts two years back for openly criticizing the leadership of B S Yediyurappa.

Many feel that these appointments are in the form of challenging the authority of Yediyurappa and hence have given rise to factionalism.

B S Yediyurappa

After the BJP snatcher power from the coalition government in the state, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, was appointed as the state BJP president. In later days, the party activists have begun to believe that there is lack of coordination between the administrative setup and organizational network of the BJP. The differences became more evident in the matters of appointment of office bearers. There is also a notion that indirectly, national organizational general secretary of the BJP B L Santhosh, has been trying to exercise his hold on the government. If the situation is allowed to continue, many fear that dissident activities might play spoilsport for the party in the coming days unless an effort is made to strike a truce.

BS Yediyurappa has a sway on the voters of north Karnataka. If he is overlooked or neglected, it will have an adverse impact on the party. Therefore, senior activists of the party believe that it would not be prudent to sidestep him.

Writing on the wall is clear. BJP is looking beyond Yeddy in Karnataka. Yeddy has embarrassed BJP enough and BJP is clearly preparing for post-Yeddy scenario.

If they play it will be a loss for them only, as Yedurappa will re start his own private party if he kicked out from BJP.
