Bantwal, Jul 19: The water level in the Netravati River has been steadily receding after touching the danger mark on Saturday July 18.
The water level at the Netravati touched 5.4 metres on Sunday July 19, which helped clear the floods across the taluk. Several houses, plantations, and paddy fields that remained inundated till Sunday morning are now back to normal.
Meanwhile, the heavy rains still continue across the taluk making it difficult for the residents of inundated houses to return home for fear that the floods may reappear.
The roof tops of several flooded houses were visible on Sunday after remaining submerged in flood waters due to incessant rains that had lashed the undivided Dakshina Kannada district over the past few weeks.
Flooded villages such as Baddakatte, Bastipadpu, Panemanglur, Farangipet, and other low-lying areas are likely to take a few more days to return to normal.
