Bengaluru, Sep 26: Further investigation into IMA scam running into over a thousand crore rupees is being shifted to New Delhi, it is learnt. The enforcement directorate, which has already been conducting investigation of irregularities with which former union minister, P Chidambaram, and state Congress leader, D K Shivakumar, are involved at New Delhi, is shifting the IMA case also to New Delhi. This development has given jitters to several leaders whose names are linked with the IMA scam.

Names of many IAS and IPS officers, politicians and government officials are linked with this scam. It is learnt that the enforcement directorate, which has jurisdiction all over the country, plans to conduct further investigation in the case at New Delhi, taking into account the size of the scam.

The enforcement directorate, which took into custody Mansoor Khan, kingpin of the ponzi scam, on his arrival from Dubai on July 19 this year, has already filed report running into 6,000 pages to the court. Mansoor has named several people in his statements and all of them will have to visit the office of the enforcement directorate at New Delhi to adduce evidence. Many might get notices directly from Delhi, sources said.

Mansoor has reportedly said that many politicians and government officials accepted money from him with the promise of helping him to get out of the mess. As influential politicians are involved, enforcement directorate top officials have decided to shift the case to the national capital, it is said.

Ministers, R V Deshpande, former minister, Roshan Baig, Zameer Ahmed Khan along with some other politicians and officials are expected to be grilled by the directorate at New Delhi in the coming weeks.
