Mangalore, Jul 17: Beary Academy president M B Abdul Rahiman revealed that the Academy has received Rs 20 lac in the form of government grant. This sum would be used creatively for literary and cultural activities of the Academy, he added.
Addressing a press conference in the city on Thursday July 16, he expressed happiness about the fact that the activities of the Academy have been given a beginning with the release of the above funds. "The Academy office, presently functioning in the Tulu Academy, will be shortly shifted to Presidium Complex, Attavar in the city," he revealed.
In the first meeting of the Academy held on June 6, P Muhammed from Bantwal, S P Ummer Farooq from Udupi and M A Hamzattula Kuvenda from Bangalore were elected as Academy members. The meeting also drew up plan of action for the future, he said.
Out of the 64 emblems sent in by 23 artists in response to the Acdemy's request, the emblem created by Taranath Kairangala has been chosen as the official emblem of the Academy, he divulged.
Academy registrar Mangala Naik, member B M Ichalangod and Rahim Ucchila were present.
