Bantwal, Sep 22: "The ambitious project of beautifying B C Road worth Rs 15 crore will be set in motion on October 21," said Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippady. Speaking in a news conference held at B C Road on Saturday, he said that the final meeting of various company heads and officials was held in Mangaluru circuit house in the presence of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. “The blueprint for beautification and the date to begin the works is finalized.”
“Assistant commissioner Ravichandra Nayak, architect Dharmaraj, national highway authority officials, officials from PWD, Mescom and representatives from MRPL and NMPT were present in the meeting,” MLA Rajesh Naik added.
“The chief minister has released Rs 5 crore as a special grant for the project and the remaining amount of Rs 10 crore will be used from the CSR funds. A committee comprising of Shashikiran Shetty, Jagannath Shenoy, Santhosh Poojary, B A Moidin and Jerry Qatar is formed. The work will be conducted in the participation of people,” he said.
“The area from Kaikamba, B C Road till Brahmashree Narayanaguru circle will be beautified. Quality CCTVs, street lights, proper drainage system, a bus stand, a circle in front of KSRTC bus stand, international standard toilets under the flyover, a flower garden, parking for the vehicles, a traffic police station and other development works are included in the project,” he added.
“As lacs of people come and go from B C Road every day, there will be people who will face inconvenience and therefore, people are requested to cooperate, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who was in the meeting has asked national highway officials in the meeting to repair highway soon after rain stops,” said MLA Rajesh Naik.
“Service week programmes are being held in the country due to the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A blood donation camp, discussions with civic workers and community meals with them to know their problems will be held by Bantwal BJP block,” he added.
Block committee president Devadas Shetty, municipal councillor Govinda Prabhu, district vice-president G Ananda, district spokesperson Harikrishna Bantwal, block committee chief secretary Ramadas, Monappa Devasya, vice-president Devappa Poojary, Ramanath Rai, Purushotham Shetty Vamadapadav and others were present.
