Bengaluru, Sep 19: The election petition filed by defeated BJP candidate from Hassan constituency, A Manju, praying to declare as null and void the election of Prajwal Revanna from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, will be heard in the state high court on September 30.
When the petition came up for consideration a few days back, the high court was informed that the summons had not been delivered to Prajwal for want of address. The high court bench, which expressed anger at the inability of the district court to find out MP Prajwal's address, ordered publication of notice in local newspaper.
When the case was taken up for hearing on Wednesday September 18 by the single judge bench presided by Justice John Michael Cunha, advocate M Keshava Reddy, submitted that he had filed Vakalat on behalf of the Prajwal. Therefore, date for next hearing was fixed as September 30.
Defeated BJP candidate A Manju, and advocate Devaraje Gowda, have filed separate election petitions seeking to declare Prajwal's election as illegal. They have alleged that Prajwal had furnished false accounts of his income tax and property details in the election affidavit. They have sought Prajwal's election to be held null and void as they claim he had committed election irregularities.
