Bengaluru, Sep 19: There will not be any legislature session in Belagavi’s Suvarna Vikasa Soudha this year under the B S Yediyurappa-led BJP government this year and instead it will be held in Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru from October 14 to 26.
The State legislature session will be held from October 14 to 26 in Bengaluru for approval of the State budget.
After the collapse of the H D Kumaraswamy led JD(S)-Congress coalition government, the BJP government sought a vote on account for three months till October 31.
Law and parliamentary affairs Minister J C Madhuswamy said the session would be held in Bengaluru and it is expected to approve the budget presented by former chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
Meanwhile, the Congress Legislature Party meeting chaired by former chief minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday passed a seven-point resolution with a focus on putting pressure on the central and state government to provide compensation for families affected by recent floods.
The resolution has urged the state government to convene a state legislature session in border district Belagavi for discussing issues related to floods and drought in the State.
After the CLP meeting, the Opposition Congress staged a protest seeking relief fund from the Centre for providing compensation for flood affected people.
Congress legislature party leader Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, KPCC working president Eshwar Khandre and party legislators participated in the protest in front of the MG statue at the State Secretariat.
Siddaramaiah alleged that the Yediyurappa government and the Modi government have not been listening to the problems being faced by cultivators and other people due to heavy rains and subsequent floods in several parts of the State.
The BJP Government in the State has decided to release Rs1,000 crore for construction of houses and Rs 510 crore for repair of damaged roads in flood-hit districts.
The amount would be released to deputy commissioners in the next few days.
A total of Rs 5 lac each would be given for a family whose house was totally damaged. In the first phase, it was decided to give Rupees one lac per family for laying the foundation for construction of new houses.
A sum of Rs 25,000 would be given for each family whose house had been partially damaged in the rain havoc.
Available funds of Rs 510 crore under the PWD would be utilized for construction and repair of roads in flood affected areas.
