Karkala, Sep 19: Sudheer Shetty (43) from Vanjarakatte, Bola post and village in the taluk, has filed a complaint about having been cheated by tendering of fake currency note by two persons who posed as buyers.
As per the complaint, two strangers, a man and a woman, approached him at around 10 am on Wednesday September 18 when he was at his shop, Shiva Medicals in Kedinje downtown. The duo arrived in a Maruti Brezza car bearing No. KA 05 U 7913, and bought a cream priced Rs 43. They tendered a currency note of Rs 200 face value. Later he realized that the note was fake. He also came to know that these people had similarly cheated people at Belman, Santoorkopla etc by handing over fake currency notes.
In connection with this case, Chetan Gowda and Archita Nalke from Davanagere district were taken into custody by Kaup police from within their jurisdiction. They were later handed over to Karkala rural police. It is said that Chetan and Archita are in love with each other, and they were circulating fake currency notes manufactured by them with the help of their colour printer and circulated them in shops located in rural areas during their travel.
Karkala rural police, who have registered a case, are probing the case.
