Shettar promises priority to North Karnataka in new industrial policy for State

Bengaluru, Sept 18: Karnataka’s new industrial policy to be unveiled soon will accord top priority for the development of the North Karnataka and backward regions of the State, announced Large and Medium Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The time to innovate is on India, especially Karnataka side. The State Government is pro-business and will introduce corrective measures to accelerate investments in the state,’’ he said addressing an Interaction Meeting with Consul Generals, Consuls and foreign trade.

Shettar said the State ranked third as the leading foreign direct investment destination in India and asserted that the government is focussed on providing momentum to reach the first place as a foreign investment-friendly state.

Stating that as we have been witnessing slump in automobile industry, the Minister said, "The State Government is committed to lifting potential growth in the sector. The government also intends to ensure ease of doing business to all the investors in the state.

Karnataka is fully equipped to shoulder all responsibilities and enable the foreign investments in the state." The Minister was accompanied by Gaurav Gupta, Principal Secretary to Government, Commerce and Industries Department and Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner, Industrial Development and Director of Industries and Commerce and senior officials of Industries and Commerce Department.

Welcoming the foreign dignitaries, the minister said, The time to innovate is on India, especially Karnatakas side. The State Government is pro-business and will introduce corrective measures to accelerate investments in the state. Making a presentation on the state’s congenial investment environment, Commissioner Gunjan Krishna explained what Karnataka holds in store for the foreign bodies.

She said, Karnatakas economy, which powers the countrys growth, is riven by the policy-driven, robust ecosystem. It is also a talent and knowledge hub with a strong and educational, medical and startup hubs." The Commissioner elaborated on the initiatives and opportunities in innovation under focus sectors of Commerce and Industries department and introduced the product-based Industrial Cluster development programme in the state.
 
Principal Secretary Gaurav Gupta, welcomed the gathering in his opening remarks.  

Consulate of Federal Republic of Germany, Consulate General of Israel, Consul General of Switzerland, hon. Consul of Rwanda, Consulate General of Japan, Trade Commissioner of Denmark, Trade Commissioner of Canada Trade Office, Consul of Czech Republic, Consul of Spain, Consul, Republic of Maldives, General Consul of Denmark were among the dignitaries who participated in the meeting.
