Tumakuru, Sep 18: The issue of not letting Dalit MP of Chitradurga, A Narayana Swamy by the Yadava community to enter their village of Gollarahatti of Pemmanahalli in the Pavagada taluk of the district had created quite a furore. However, after the expression of rage by public against the villagers, the MP was invited by the villagers, whose mind was converted by the talk given by a Swamiji.
Once the issue came to light, Srikrishna Yadavananda Swamiji had met the people of his community living in Gollarahatti village and had discussion with them. The villagers, whose mind and heart were changed by the talk of Swamiji, have invited MP Narayana Swamy to their village on Friday.
Chandrashekhar Gowda, chief of the Yadava community has expressed regret at the unpleasant incident.
Swamiji, in his address to the villagers, said, "We have to progress in the society that is changing. Castes are based on the profession. We have to follow the ideals of 12th century revolutionary Basavanna,”
At the same time, tahsildar of the village Varadaraj has said that untouchability is an offense and action will be taken against such behaviour.
Deputy director of social welfare department Rama said that the villagers have accepted their mistake and have also said that they will not commit this mistake again. However, a report will be submitted to the assistant commissioner with regards to the whole incident.
