Mangaluru, Sep 17: Police personnel of the city (south) division, in an operation undertaken as per the orders of the city police commissioner, Dr Harsha P S, arrested three drug peddlers. One of them has been identified as Farooq, resident of Bunder area, who was found selling Ganja, duly seated in his Brezza car. Police also confiscated two kg Ganja worth Rs 30,000, a white Brezza car worth six lac rupees, Rs 20,030 in cash and a cellphone from him. The total value items seized amounts to Rs 6,51,030.
One case each relating to ganja peddling within the city (north) police station limits and in NCPS police station and theft case in Kumble, Kasargod are under investigation against him.
The police have also arrested Abid and Zubair, residents of Kasargod, who were found to be selling Ganja by using a Yamaha bike near Arkula Yashswi hall, falling under rural police station limits here. Three kg Ganja worth Rs 45,000, Yamaha bike worth Rs 50,000 and three mobile phones worth Rs 50,000 were confiscated from their possession.
The operation was conducted by the city south anti rowdy squad personnel comprising station inspector Ashok P and PSI Janaki as well as Mangaluru rural station inspector S H Bhajantri, PSI Kumareshwaran, Manjula and staff under the orders from senior police officials.
