Bantwal, Sep 17: “There is a proposal to shift DSP office to Puttur from Mangaluru. If it is to be shifted, it should be shifted to Bantwal,” urged former minister B Ramanath Rai.
He was speaking in a press conference called in B C Road Congress party office.
He said that the shifting will provide convenience for people in Bantwal, Puttur and Beltangady besides maintenance of law and order. “If the government desires that the office should be situated away from Mangaluru, Bantwal is a most suitable and convenient place,” he said. “Let the government think over it avoiding haste. We do not object even if they want to have separate district.”
“The new vehicle act has adversely affected ordinary people. The collection of twice the amount of fine has become a burden for the poor. Let the officials inspect vehicles properly but the exorbitant fine is not right. It should be simplified,” he said.
“Some of the legal Acts are not in favour of people. The slapping of Hindi under one country and one language will be a problem for ordinary people. We object to it,” he said. “Our language is likely to be extinct with the action. It will snatch our freedom. Tulu language is still not included in 8th section of the Constitution,” he said.
Bantwal block Congress president Baby Kunder, Panemangaluru block Congress president Sudeep Shetty Mani, taluk panchayat vice president Abbas Ali, Sadashiva Bangera, Sudarshan Jain and Padmanabha Rai were present.
