Bengaluru: Milk subsidy for SC/ST milk producers hiked by one rupee a litre

Bengaluru, Sep 17: The meeting of the state council which was chaired by the chief minister, has decided to increase the subsidy being given to SC-ST dairy farmers from five rupees a litre to six rupees.

The meeting of SC sub-plan and tribal sub-plan was held under the presidentship of the chief minister on Monday at the Vidhana Soudha. Speaking thereafter, deputy chief minister, Govind Karjol, said that the increase in subsidy is meant to encourage milk producers belonging to backward classes.

He said that it has been decided to give 90 per cent subsidy for purchase of agricultural machinery and drip irrigation. Under the animal husbandry department, 90 per cent subsidy will be given for raising cows, goats, sheep etc. Silk producers will get 90 per cent subsidy for shed construction, and 90 per cent subsidy for polyhouse construction.

Under the women and child welfare department, SC-ST women will get Rs 10,000 interest-free loans. Self-help groups of SC and ST communities will get interest-free loans ranging from two to five lac rupees, Karjol stated.
