Mangaluru: Malali daylight robbery - Main accused held

Mangaluru, Sep 14: Kalandar (30), said to be an associate of Ulaibettu Khalid, who has been named as main accused in a daylight robbery which happened at Malali on July 14 this year, was arrested by the Bajpe police from Badakabaill on September 12. The police confiscated Rs 7,000 from his possession.

When a person named Senthil Kumar, who was involved with small scale finance business, was moving in his motor bike on July 14 this year for collecting deposits and loan instalments, when four persons who approached him in two motor bikes, intercepted him. It is said that the four-member gang waylaid Senthil, flashed swords at him, and robbed him of Rs 2,05,000 before going away, Senthil had said in his complaint.

Relating to the robbery, Muhammed Khalid, Abdul Aziz Naushad, Muhammed Mustafa, Ashlesh Kotian and Muhammed Ashik, all from Ulaibettu, were arrested. They are currently in judicial custody.
