IMD forecasts moderate to heavy rains for Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rains over the next 24 hours in parts of the city and suburbs on Friday.

IMD's Santa Cruz observatory has recorded rainfall of 41.3 mm in the past 24 hours, while IMD Colaba recorded 6.2 mm.

In total, both Colaba and Santa Cruz observatories have recorded above-average rainfall since June 1. As per reports, when IMD Colaba recorded 2346.6 mm rain, which is 500 mm above normal, IMD Santa Cruz recorded 3398.6 mm, which is 1353.4mm above normal.

“Rainfall over the last 24 hours indicates moderate to heavy rains spread over parts of suburbs and adjoining areas like Thane,” said K S Hosalikar, deputy director-general of IMD western region.
