Bengaluru, Sep 9: As it foresees possibility of heavy rainfall in three coastal districts and three malnad districts, the meteorological department has issued orange alert to these six districts.
On account of depression over Bay of Bengal and fall in atmospheric pressure between Kerala and Maharashtra, states in south India have been experiencing good rainfall since some days. Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts have been issued orange alerts as they are expected to get rainfall between 115 to 205 mm. As Hassan and Belagavi districts are expected to get between 65 and 115 mm rainfall on Monday, yellow alert has been issued too them. The department has also warned that a few places may also get heavy rainfall on Monday.
During the 24-hour period ended 8.30 am on Sunday, Siddapur in Udupi district received 14 cm rainfall, Subrahmanya got 13 cm rain, Kollur received 11 cm rain while Kundapur got 9 cm rain.
