Mysuru: No fare hike for now, says transport minister

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (SP)

Mysuru, Sep 9: "I have before me a proposal to hike bus fare in the light of rise in the cost of fuel. However, I do not propose to increase the bus fare for the present," said deputy chief minister of Karnataka and transport minister, Laxman Savadi.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday September 8, he clarified that a considered decision would be taken after examining all facts in the coming days.

"The state government proposes to introduce electric buses as part of environment friendly and fuel saving measures. We have received some proposals from foreign countries. As per these proposals, our capital would be zero, and profit is shared on 40:60 basis. The buses would be entirely managed and operated by them. We will consider advantages and disadvantages of this move," he said.
