Panaji, Jul 6: Roads flooded, trees uprooted, houses and hutments inundated, power cuts, strong winds, traffic jams...these are the scenes Goans are witnessing after heavy and torrential rains lashed the state over the past few days disrupting normal life.
Fire and emergency services have been put on high alert along with the 108 ambulance service. The police department and the collectorate are on their toes. However, no casualties have been reported yet.
Several houses in Colvale were inundated. Roads and several fields across the state were flooded.
There were reports of frequent traffic jams in Panaji city as well as other major towns in the state.
Several huts in Kamrabhat at Taleigao were inundated. The CCP authorities rushed to the spot and started rescue work.
