Bengaluru: Sumalatha complains of fake FB account in her name, derogatory posts

Bengaluru, Sep 7: Mandya MP and noted actress Sumalatha Ambareesh, has complained to the city police commissioner, claiming that a fake Facebook (FB) account has been opened in her name and that it is being used by mischief mongers for posting derogatory matter. She has sought strict legal action against the miscreants concerned.

She said that she has been noticing that such posts have been making an appearance since the period election for Mandya parliamentary seat was held. Noting that it is continuing even now, she said she felt having committed a mistake by overlooking this as mischief by some young people. "Now I am determined to take action. I have filed complaint, and the police commissioner has promised to take action," she said. When her response was sought about D K Shivakumar's arrest, she said that it is her policy not to pass comment in matters that are not concerned to her.

Some perverts have opened a FB account in Sumalatha's name, in which they have tried to tarnish her image by uploading posts which show Sumalatha justifying the arrest of Shivakumar. A video clip which shows Sumalatha dancing with actor Chiranjeevi, during the birthday celebrations, was also uploaded in this account. Many had passed scathing comments on these posts which were hurtful for Sumalatha. Therefore, she filed complaint in the cybercrimes police station here, before meeting the police commissioner and seeking action.
