Panaji, Sep 4: Now tourists need not wade through thick forest to reach and enjoy the scenic Dudhsagar Waterfall located on Goa-Karnataka border, as South Western Railway has provided ten minutes halt to one of its train for the passengers to enjoy its beauty.

Union minister of state for Railways Suresh Angadi and union minister of state for Defence Shripad Naik flagged off a bi-weekly train between Vasco (Goa) and Belagavi (Karnataka).

After the flagging off ceremony, Angadi announced that the train will make a special ten minute long halt at Dudhsagar waterfall so that the passengers can enjoy its beauty.

“All this time, the trains used to pass from the waterfall side, but passengers never had an opportunity to witness it. Now, the passengers can disembark from the train for ten minutes and enjoy the beauty of the waterfall,” he said.

Dudhsgar Waterfall is India’s fifth tallest waterfall and is famous for its milky water.

The minister said that the stoppage of train at Dudhsagar waterfall has been taken up on trial basis and its further continuance will be based on review.

At present, the tourists have to get down at Molem village and travel through forested areas to reach the waterfall.

Talking about bi-weekly train, Angadi said that there was persistent demand for a direct passenger train exclusively from Vasco to Belagavi as very few express trains are connecting these two cities.
