Bengaluru, Sep 3: Gowramma, mother of former minister and senior Congress leader D K Shivakumar accused that the BJP is harassing her son through ED because of his rise in the political scene of the state. That is why the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is repeatedly asking D K Shivakumar to present himself for investigation in the alleged money laundering case.
Speaking to the reporters on Monday, September 2, at her ancestral village in Kanakapura, Gowramma said, "BJP does not have empathy. It is BJP and no one else, who is doing it to my son Shivakumar. They cannot see his political growth. But we cannot help it."

Justifying their wealth being inherited, a teary-eyed Gowramma said, "They are saying that we have accumulated lots of wealth. This is not true. We have not become rich overnight. My father-in-law Kempegowda was a renowned person and wealthy at that time in our village."
Gowramma also said that their house was raided when Shivakumar was just seven or eight years old but they could not find anything against the law. "We have not cheated or killed anyone to gain the wealth we possess now. It is hard earned. It is just that some people in the society are not able to tolerate our happiness."
"Every year on the auspicious occasion of Ganesha Chathurthi both D K Shivakumar and his brother D K Suresh would be there at home to celebrate with family members. This is for the first time that both are missing as D K Shivakumar is facing the hearing of ED in Delhi and D K Suresh is with him to offer him moral support. Our whole family is distraught because of this," said Gowramma.
The plea of Shivakumar to let him celebrate Ganesha Chathurthi festival with his family on Monday at his ancestral village was turned down by the ED, who forced him to attend the hearing in Delhi. Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy had vehemently condemned this behaviour of ED.
