Mangaluru, Aug 31: The priests of Kollur Mookambika temple received a strange call from the Union finance ministry. They were asked to perform a special puja for India and its people on August 5 and later personally deliver the prasadam to Prime Minister, home minister and finance minister.
Little did the priests know that August 5 would be an important day in the Indian history. While they were performing the Puja, the centre revoked two key constitutional provisions — Article 370 and Article 35(A) — that give the state of Jammu & Kashmir a host of special rights.
The priests performed the Chandika Homa for two-and-a-half hours and Mahapuja during noon. On August 7, Subramanya, his father head priest KN Narasimha Adiga and another priest K N Prameshwar Adiga left for Delhi with the prasadam. They handed over the same to finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and home minister Amit Shah. On August 8, at 8 am, they met PM Modi at his residence and personally handed over the prasadam to him.
The priests said that they invited PM to visit the Kollur temple, to which he replied, “If the Devi calls me, I will definitely visit.” The PM also requested the priests to pray for the welfare of the country.
