Madikeri, Aug 31: In an incident that occurred in the city a man was cheated by a bogus company, which advertised to sell mobile phone at a cheaper rate than the market, and sent expired box of sweet and other items of no value to the buyer.
Sharavana, a resident of First phase of the city, received a call on his mobile. The caller said that he is calling from Bengaluru and they are selling Samsung made mobile phone of Rs 6,000 worth for just Rs 2,000. The caller said that they will send it by post if the buyer agrees.
Sharavana fell into the sweet talk of the caller and asked him to send the mobile phone by VPP. He paid Rs 2,000 and brought the parcel home. To his utter astonishment, Sharavana found that the seller has sent a box of sweets which has an expired date, sandals shaped tin sheets, pictures of tortoise and Goddess Laxmi. When Sharavana tried to call the telephone number displayed on the pack, the sender did not respond.
