Beltangady, Jun 30: A woman killed her drunk husband following a domestic dispute in Kalmanja near here on Monday June 29.
Asha, a resident of Irnady in Kalmanja village, killed Raju, her forty-five-year-old husband on Monday night. They have two children—Vishnu and Veena. Raju was a toddy-tapper who would quarrel with his wife Asha daily after returning home.
Raju came home fully drunk at about 9.00 pm on Monday and began quarreling with Asha over the food. The verbal tussle reached its peak, when Raju began to assault Asha.
Their son Vishnu sensing trouble, rushed to seek help from his neighbour Harshendra Kumar. When both of them returned home, they saw Asha hitting Raju with a log of firewood. Following this, Raju collapsed on the ground.
The neighbour and others rushed the couple to hospital in an auto rickshaw. The government hospital here recommended that the duo be shifted to Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore, owing to their critical condition.
The doctors at Wenlock declared Raju dead at 1.30 am on Tuesday June 30. Asha is recovering and is out of danger.
Sub-inspector B G Subba Pooramat visited the scene and registered a case in this regard.
