Mangaluru: Shriyana Mallya wins state-level under-11 chess championship

Mangaluru, Aug 28: Shriyana Mallya, 9-year-old chess prodigy from Mangaluru, has won the Karnataka State-Level Under-11 Girls’ Chess Championship-2019. This win will make her eligible to represent Karnataka state in the national chess championship which will be held at Delhi in November this year.

The chess championship was organised by Chikkaballapur District Chess Association and United Karnataka Chess Association from August 23 to August 25 at BGS English School Gnanagangothri Campus Agalagurki, Chikkaballapur district, Karnataka.

Shriyana won 8 rounds and drew one out of 9 rounds. Altogether there were 83 girl participants in this category.

Shriyana had also won state championship in Under-9 category this year

She had won Under-11 state championship in 2018 when she was 8 years old.

Shriyana is the student of Lourdes Central School, Bejai in Mangaluru.
