Udupi, Aug 28: ‘Spectrum’, colours of nature and life, third Photography exhibition of award-winning Udupi origin photographer, popularly known as Focus Raghu, organized by department of Journalism, MGM College Udupi was inaugurated here on Wednesday, August 28.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Rathnavathi, mother of Focus Raghu by clicking camera and Dr P V Bhandary, medical director Dr A V Baliga held the inauguration symbolically by lighting the lamp.
Dr P V Bhandary said, “Some of our good habits release us from stress. Photography also makes us get relief from stress. Whatever you do, do it with perfection. Focus Raghu became branded of himself because of his work. One should adopt five Ds in his life to achieve. They are Dream, Discipline, Determination, Dedication and Dice.”
In his presidential address, Dr M G Vijaya, principal of MGM College, said, “A beautiful science in one which freezes the things that have happened and that is called the art. Photography does not mean focusing or flash, but about captivating darkness along with light. A photographer is more than any sun and poet. Feelings behind a photo are important. Eyes should listen to the voice of words. At that moment one can see the beauty of photographs. Let Raghu reach greater heights in the path of success.”
Children should not be book worms; they need to have practical knowledge to tackle future difficulties.
Speaking on the occasion, Guruduth Kamath, renowned photo-artiste and mentor said, “The concept of photography is changing every day. I would like to teach photography to those who are ready to accept criticism. I am still a student. Many things have changed after the digital era started. Today everybody can click photos in an instant and there is no excitement to see clicks and no challenges. The emerging photographers should find their own style in the field.”
Manjunath Kamath, HOD department of Journalism MGM College extended the welcome, Focus Raghu rendered vote of thanks. Suchith Kotian, lecturer, Journalism department compered the programme.
M Harishchandra, managing director, Gandhi Hospital and Rajashekhar N, R S M Nikon India Pvt Ltd were present.
The unique and colourful photos attracted the audience. It is a collection of five years. He did not display these photos anywhere. Unique photographs related to culture, landscape, travel of Indian sub continent are displayed in this exhibition.
More than 45 photos are showcased at the exhibition hall. Visitors can also buy the photographs. The exhibition is will be open from 10 am to 7 pm till September 1, 2019.
