Udupi, Aug 27: The third photography exhibition of award winning Udupi based photographer, popularly known as Focus Raghu will be organised by Department of Journalism of MGM College at its premises in Udupi from August 28 to September 1.
Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club on Monday, August 26, Focus Raghu said, “This is my third photography exhibition and is themed, ‘Spectrum, colours of nature and life.’ The exhibition will showcase some of the very rare and unpublished photographs clicked by me. Around 45 photos will be showcased. Visitors can also buy the photographs. Unique photographs related to culture, landscape, travel, will be showcased.”
Speaking about the exhibition, Manjunath Kamath, HOD Department of Journalism, MGM College said, “The exhibition will be open for 5 days. People can visit the exhibition from 10 am to 7 pm at their convenience.”
“We aim to inspire the youth to take up co-curricular activities along with their studies. This exhibition should inspire young students about their future goals. Students today need to know about the happenings in the outside world. This exhibition will have some very rare and meaningful photographs,” said M G Vijay, principal of MGM College, Udupi.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Rathnavathi, mother of Focus Raghu at 10 am on August 28. Dr P V Bhandary, medical director of Dr A V Baliga memorial hospital, M Harishchandra, managing director of Gandhi Hospital, Rajashekhar N, R S M Nikon India Pvt Ltd, Guruduth Kamath, renowned photo artist and mentor will be the chief guests. Dr M G Vijaya, principal of MGM College, Udupi will preside over the function.
Wildlife journalism and forest preservation seminar in MGM College
MGM College in association with Karnataka Forest Department and Nirmithi Kendra, Udupi has organised one day seminar on “Wildlife journalism and forest preservation”. Renowned wildlife photographers will be resource persons.
The inauguration of the programme will be held on Friday, August 30 at 9.30 am.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh will inaugurate, Dr M G Vijay, principal of MGM College will preside. Clifford Lobo, RFO Udupi, A A Gopal, RFO Shankarnarayan, Arun Kumar, project director, Nirmithi Kendra, Malathi Devi, principal of PU College, Udupi will be present.
The first seminar will begin at 10.30 am. A documentary film ‘Walking with Wolves,’ directed by Senani Hegde, will be screened at 12.10 pm.
In the afternoon session, Senani Hegde will share his life experiences in an interaction session. An information exchange programme with experts on coastal land, water and life will be held from 4 pm to 6.30 pm.
The experts would be S S Sunil, wildlife biologist, Mysuru, Dinesh Holla, environmentalist, Mangaluru, Gururaj Sanil, snake expert, Udupi, Shivashankar Manjunath, bird expert, Karkala and environmentalists Purushottam Shetty Adve, Arun Kumar, and Clifford.
In the evening at 7 pm, there is a monologue drama ‘Panchavati’ by MGM College students.
