Udupi, Aug 26: “BJP might have come to power after sentimentally corrupting people’s minds by bringing forward subjects on religions, border, army etc as they cannot face us in matters of development and pro people, but it is not permanent. People will throw them out when they realize the cheating. Defeat is not new for Congress. The history of Congress coming back to power like phoenix is in front of us. Let us unite and join in strengthening the party on base level,” said former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake who addressed a meeting of activists at Udyavar rural congress committee.

“It appears that Vidhan Sabha elections are likely at the end of the year. We also have panchayat elections ahead of us. Therefore, we should think hard and get down to work. Booth level organization is necessary for panchayat elections after selecting candidates for panchayat elections,” he said.

“The economic situation in the country is collapsing. Unemployment is rampant. However those who rule us are not bothered. Lacs of people are losing jobs but they are making Pakistan stand in between. The gravity of the situation is diluted by speaking about cancellation of article 370. Our activists should be prepared to defeat efforts to mislead people,” said Udyavar former rural Congress president Udyavar Nagesh Kumar.

Rural Congress president Girish Kumar presided over the meeting. Udyavar gram panchayat president Sugandhi Shekar was present. Kaup north block Congress secretary Abid Ali welcomed, compered the programme and thanked the gathering.
