Udupi: Renovation work of Uchila Mahalakshmi temple launched

Udupi, Aug 26: Sri Shantabheeshma Swamy of Nijasharana Sri Ambigara Chowdaiah Gurupeeta of Narasipur district launched the comprehensive renovation work of Uchila Sri Mahalakshmi temple at Mahalakshmi Sabhabhavan here on Sunday, August 25.

Addressing the gathering Swamiji said, “Mahalakshmi temple is Divine Ocean for the Mogaveera community. The renovation work will get completed with spirituality and organized effort of Mogaveer society.”

The Swamiji laid foundation stone and held Kashta (wooden) muhurtham in order to begin the construction work. A religious community hall is getting renovated at a cost of Rs 10 crores, which was contributed by MRPL CSR fund.

Chief Guest of the occasion, M Venkatesh, administrative director of MRPL said, “MRPL Company has reserved Rs 7.5 crore for the construction work of the community hall.”

MLA Lalaji Mendon said, “Let us meet the chief minister with a delegation to urge for sanctioning of funds for the renovation work.”

Pramod Madhwaraj, former minister, Kishore Alva, chairman, Adani Group of Companies, Yashpal Suvarna, president, Dakshina Kannada Fish market federation and Sadanand Kotian of Mumbai Mogaveer bank also spoke on the occasion.

Raghavendra Thantri, chief thantri of temple, Raghavendra Upadhyaya, main priest, Gundu Amin, president, temple renovation committee, Ramesh Bangera, president, Bagvadi Mogaveera Mahajan seva sangha Mumbai, Srinivas, vice president, Bengaluru Mogaveera Sangha, Ajith Suvarna, president, Mumbai Mogaveera management board, Anand C Kundar, proprietor of Kota Geethanand foundation, Krishna Suvarna, president, Malpe fishermen association, Nithin kumar, president, Trawl boat Union Mangaluru, Businessmen Lokanath Boalar and Bhuvanendar Kediyur of Hotel Kediyur, K K Kanchan, branch president, Bagvadi Mogaveera Mahajan seva sangha, Sarala Kanchan, honorary president, Dakshina Kannada Mogaveera Mahila sangha, Keshav kundar, former president, Mogaveer Mahajan Sangha, Sudhakar Kundar, Hariyappa Kotian, Mohan Bangera, Vinay Karkera, Kirthiraj Salian were present.

Rs one crore from the Malpe Fishermen association and other collected funds were handed over to the temple renovation committee.

Dr G Shankar delivered the keynote address. Jaya C Kotian Bellampalli extended the welcome. Sudhakar Kundar rendered the vote of thanks. Chandresh Pithrody compered the programme.
