Kasargod, Aug 26: Revenue minister of Kerala government E Chandrashekharan visited the Our Lady or Mercy Church at Manjeshwar, which was recently attacked by miscreants.
Fr Vincent Saldanha, parish priest of the church welcomed the minister. The minister discussed the stone throwing incident and damage caused with the parish priest. The minister brought the issue to the notice of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan by speaking to him over the mobile right from the church office.
Speaking to Daijiworld, the minister said, "Stringent action will be taken against the culprits involved in the attack on the church. A special team is formed to investigate the matter. Attack on any place of worship is condemnable. The special team is working on arresting the real culprits. The government will take strict action against anyone, who tries to disrupt the communal harmony. The government is committed to provide full protection to the church."
"The government has taken the attack on Our Lady of Mercy church, which has a history of over 100 years. I have brought this issue to the notice of the chief minister already. I will meet the CM on Tuesday, August 27 and discuss on this issue," said minister E Chandrashekharan.
N Devidas, additional bailiff of the district, K R Jayananda, block panchayat member, B V Rajan, Ramakrishna Kadambar and T Krishnan accompanied the minister.
