Gadag, Jun 27: In violation of the government circular stipulating that the leader of the opposition in the assembly can not hold meetings of government officials, Siddaramaiah on Friday June 26, held a meeting of the officials here. The deputy commissioner of the district and other officials took part in the meeting, earning the ire of the chief minister (CM) in the bargain.
Siddaramaiah collected department-wise statistics from the officials and asked them to implement all the schemes of the union government efficiently. Siddu said, he would respond to the circular banning the opposition leader from holding meetings with the officials, at the assembly session. He asked the CM to properly study and understand the Indian Constitution before initiating such steps.
He accused the state government of not caring to reply the January 12 letter of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, offering Vidarbha-model development plan for Hyderbad-Karnataka region. "The chief minister claims he wants special status to the region on the lines of Telangana. But he had no courtesy to reply to the letter of the Prime Minister,” he alleged. He also charged the chief minister of playing political gimmicks in claiming Telagana model of special status to Hyderbad-Karnataka region.
"I do not face any serious charges in any of the police stations or courts like Reddy brothers. There is no need to withdraw cases standing against me. I am ready to face any case," he said. He accused the government of withdrawing cases against him, to ensure that he would not question its decision of withdrawing the cases standing against Reddy brothers.
In a press conference later, he lambasted the state government of not introducing any new schemes and touting the Congress Party schemes as its own. He said, the government has failed in revenue collection, power generation, supply of fertilizers etc. "B S Yeddyurappa is spending his time, reeling under the blackmail tactics of Reddy brothers and in pacifying disgruntled legislators," he commented.
