Goa: Fishermen's Aadhar card to have QR codes for illegal entry of foreigners

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji (SR)

Panaji, Aug 24: Speaking at the 24th meeting of the Western Zonal BJP Council in Goa on Thursday, Central Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Centre has decided to provide Aadhaar cards with encrypted QR codes to all fishermen to prevent illegal entry of foreigners by sea route.

As reported in TOI, Shah said, “An innovative solution of an encrypted QR code on Aadhaar cards to verify antecedents of marine fishermen will be implemented. It will ensure that foreign nationals do not enter Indian territory unauthorisedly through fishing boats.”

Amit Shah urged states to take printouts or get the cards made within a month of the official government announcement, so that everyone has an Aadhaar card with the latest QR Code.
