Sullia, Aug 24: BJP MLA representing Krishnaraja constituency in Mysuru, S A Ramadas, was injured after the car in which he was travelling to Mangaluru from Mysuru met with an accident at Jalsoor near here. The MLA was moving to Mangaluru with his brother, Srikanthdas.
As the injuries suffered were minor in nature, Ramadas was treated at KVG Hospital at Sullia after which he proceeded to attend a puja arranged at the residence of the in-laws of Srikanthdas at Mangaluru.
The car in question, when passing through Jalsoor, hit a culvert at the Jalsoor Junction at around 7.15 am on Friday when negotiating the barricades set up there. Both the MLA and his brother were seated in the backseat and both were wearing seatbelts. The airbags of the car were deployed and the car driver, Rajeshwar, was injured in the left hand.
The MLA suffered chest pain due to the pressure applied by the seat belt and injury to small finger. Srikanth was unharmed. The MLA travelled to the hospital in a car of D V Sadananda Gowda's relative that was nearby. In the afternoon, he recovered and travelled to Mangaluru in another car.
