Panaji, Aug 23: Adressing all parishioners of the diocese for prayers and contributions to the Caritas fund for victims of the recent floods, archbishop of Goa and Daman, Filipe Neri Ferrao said, “High level flooding has put whole communities, settlements, livestock and wildlife at great risk when the death toll is nearing the 400 mark, with more than 47 lac people displaced across thousands of relief camps in Assam, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala alone.”
The social service wing of the Church for humanitarian work, Caritas India, has also joined hands with the government and other agencies to provide immediate relief and assistance to the flood victims.
Those who want to contribute, may send cheques and demand drafts accompanied by a note stating that they are for the 2019 floods, in favour of Caritas Goa Emergency Calamities, account number 520101219522622 at Corporation Bank, Panaji branch.
Well-wishers can also hand over donations to the respective parish priests or at the Caritas-Goa office, Instituto N S Piedade, Panaji.
