Kundapur, Aug 22: Yuva Buntara Sangha has threatened to undertake strong protests if Halady Srinivas Shetty is not given ministerial berth during the second phase of ministry expansion.
Sunil Kumar Shetty Herikudru, president of Kundapur Yuva Bantara Sangha, has said that the government has been repeatedly meting out injustice to Bunt community. “Though there are five MLAs from the community in the assembly, none of them have been given the chance to represent the community in the cabinet. We condemn the concerned for denying representation to our community this time too. Bunts community MLAs are getting elected regularly since the last nine terms but they have not been made ministers. Violent protests will be held if Halady Srinivas Shetty is not made a part of the state ministry in the next cabinet expansion,” he warned.
Addressing a press conference held at the Press Club here on August 21, he said that Yuva Buntara Sangha had expressed anguish when the coalition government had not made Pratapchandra Shetty a minister. “Bunts community organizations have held meetings and exchanged opinions about not giving ministerial berth to Halady Srinivas Shetty this time. We will be submitting our grievances to the chief minister,” he said.
“Bunts community, which is strong in the coast, is being deprived of opportunities continuously. These kinds of mistakes should not be repeated. We will be congratulating Kota Srinivas Poojary after taking oath of office,” he said.
