Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg tries hand at Yakshagana – Video goes viral

Bengaluru, Aug 20: Brad Hogg is currently in Bengaluru as a commentator for the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). On Sunday, August 18, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg took time away from his busy schedule to take a crash course in Yakshagana. The session was organized by Sanskriti-Yakshanubhava, of coastal Karnataka and was led by Satish Agpala at VV Puram Arts College in Bengaluru.

The ardour displayed by Brad took social media by storm. A video clip shows Brad trying to pick up steps alongside Prasad Cherkady, a Yakshagana and film artiste. Brad went on to learn a couple of steps of Trivude Talam. Along with learning the art form, Brad tried his hand at playing a special percussion instrument known as the Chende. Madhur Mohan Saralaya, a senior artiste in the instrument mentored Brad on it.

The other senior artistes who were present in the room namely Amrutadeva Kattinakere, Priyanka Mohan and Nikhil Paid, admired Brad for having a good rhythm and sync. They applauded the Australian cricketer for his dedication and stated that it was a proud moment for the art form which is drawing foreigners in too.
