Udupi, Aug 20: G Jagadeesha took over charge as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district on Tuesday, August 20.

Outgoing DC Hepsiba Rani Korlapati handed over the charge to the new DC.

Additional DC Vidyakumari was present on the occasion.

Jagadeesha has earlier discharged duties as a sub-divisional officer in Udupi in 2006. He served in various capacities at Savanoor, Sirsi, Haveri, Mysuru and Bengaluru. He was also personal secretary to the forest minister and thereafter being zilla panchayat CEO at Hassan and Kolar.

Addressing media persons after taking charge, he said, “This is the third time I am transferred. I have dealt with many revenue issues. So I have some knowledge in zilla panchayat activities when Hemalatha was the DC. I have studied the problems of Udupi. I was supposed to come last year. I like Udupi because it is a compact and legally proper district. The system is good here. If I get good practice, it will help me in my future career for ten years in deputy commissioner cadre.

“I do not know about the real problems over here. I need to study,” he said.
