Mangaluru, Aug 17: It was a very enthusiastic team of People's Association for Geriatric Empowerment (PAGE), which met at Hotel Ocean Pearl on Saturday, August 17 to plan out observation of World Alzheimer’s month in September.
The meaningful and colourful launch of the World Alzheimer’s month will happen on August 31 at 7 am at Kadri park.
A colourful launch with students and citizens dressed in red and white releasing the colourful balloons by eminent citizens of the city from the police commissioner, deputy commissioner, doctors, senior citizens, students, and the who's who will join in.
There will be a walk by everyone assembled and a game to test the memory will be organized.
Various tests like memory tests, and blood pressure, and diabetic check will be conducted followed by singing by senior citizens having fun.
The month long programme will include talk by eminent doctors at various places. There will be memory tests, activities for senior citizens, meetings at various schools and colleges, TV talk show, radio and print media news.
"We need to reach out to society in creating awareness and informing them of the various activities and facilities that we at page have deviced for the sufferers & their families," stated Jerardin D’Souza, founder of Mangalore Alzheimer’s Association and secretary of PAGE.
Dr Prabha Adhikari, vice president, PAGE, urged everyone to participate actively in the month long activities.
Dr Olinda Pereira, president, PAGE, chaired the meeting.
Mohanraj, joint secretary, PAGE, took down minutes and shared his insights.
It was decided to actively participate and support the ‘Purple Run’ being organized by Forum Fiza Mall on September 15 as PAGE is a joint partner.
