Panaji: No water supply in many areas due to pipeline burst near Ponda

Panaji, Aug 17: The state capital and several other areas in Goa have no water supply for the second day in a row after a pipeline burst near Ponda.

The pipeline that brings water to Tiswadi and Ponda tehsils from Opa Water Works near Ponda town burst due to landslide caused by heavy rains. Chief minister Pramod Sawant held a meeting to take stock of the situation and said public works department officials were working on a war footing to repair the pipeline.

As per News 18 report, Deepak Pauskar, PWD minister told the publication that efforts were on to resume water supply at the soonest, but it might take another two days for the supply to normalise.
