Madikeri: Two washed away in rivulet when washing clothes

Madikeri, Aug 17: In an incident which happened at Thithimathi near Gonikoppal on Friday August 2, two girls who had approached a rivulet to wash clothes were washed away due to the force of flowing water.

The incident happened in Karehadlu thicket at around 2 pm on Friday. Kavya, Bhavya and Navya had left at 2 pm on Friday to wash clothes in Devamachchi rivulet near their home. Among them, Kavya (20) and a fifth standard student of Thithimathi government primary school, Bhavya (10), fell into the water and disappeared. Navya rushed back home and raised an alarm. Although an elaborate search was launched the two girls could not be found.

Later, the lifeless body of Kavya was recovered. Search for Bhavya is increasing. A case about the incident was filed in Ponnampet police station, it is gathered.
