Mangaluru: Normal life disrupted in DK district due to incessant rains

Mangaluru, Aug 16: Rain has continued its fury in the district of Dakshina Kannada after brief respite. It was raining heavily on the morning of Friday, August 16 also and normal life in the district was disrupted because of this.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil announced Red Alert in the district based on the information given by the meteorology department. The Red Alert is on from 1 pm of August 15 till 8.30 of August 16.

The roads on Charmady Ghat are completely destroyed because of the rains and it will take a month for the same to be repaired. The Ghat is closed for traffic from August 15 to September 14 as per the orders issued by DC.

Huge garbage landslide has occurred in Pacchanady area of the city, which has sunk more than 20 houses of Mandara area under it. In addition, more than 20 acres of agricultural land is destroyed due to the garbage landslide.
