Mangaluru: Carmel Studios inaugurated at St Joseph Monastery

Mangaluru, Aug 16: The most awaited Carmel Studios was inaugurated on Thursday, August 16 at St Joseph Monastery in the presence of Fr Charles Serrao, provincial superior of Karnataka Goa Carmelite province.

The guest of honour were Devdas Kaipkad, renowned Tulu theatrical artiste and ‘Konkan Maina’ Meena Rebimbus, and Sangeeth Guru Joel Pereira.

Joel Pereira was felicitated for his contribution in the work of the studio.

Fr Wilfred Rodrigues, director of community, welcomed the gathering.



Devdas Kaipkad said that Wilfy Rebimbus had done lot of contribution to the field of singing in Konkani and has inspired him. He wished well for the newly inaugurated studio.

Fr Charles Serrao said, “In Christianity music has a lot of impact. Carmelties have their own contribution to singing. There are many poets and singers in the community. Through music it is possible to spread the word of God.”

Fr Alwyn Sequeira and team had taken the responsibility of planning the studio.

Fr Prakash compered the programme. Br Babush rendered the vote of thanks.
