Goa: IMD issues alert for next 48 hours, heavy rainfall expected

Panaji, Aug 15: IMD, Panaji, issued the state a yellow alert for the next 48 hours. A warning for fishermen was issued along with few parts of the state who are likely to receive heavy rainfall.

Goa has received 2,816.4mm of rainfall as compared to the normal mark of 2,391.5mm, a surplus of 18 per cent. On Wednesday morning, Panaji recorded highest rainfall in Quepem, around 48.4mm.

The continuous rains have also led to destruction, several low lying areas in Margao faced flood situations and Fatorda was hit majorly when main roads in the town succumbed to floods causing traffic jam.
